Yale School of Public Health

The School of Public Health at Yale University provides leadership to protect and improve the health of the public. Through innovative education, research, policy analysis and practice that draws upon interdisciplinary scholarship from across the graduate and professional programs at Yale, the school serves local, national and international communities with its knowledge and expertise. We foster health equity, social justice and respectful discourse to enrich our teaching and scholarship, as well as empower the communities that we serve.

Yale is a research-oriented institution. Research is emphasized in the teaching program and culminates in the master's thesis, capstone course, or doctoral dissertation. Faculty advisers help students with all aspects of their programs. A schoolwide M.P.H. core curriculum, combined with divisional requirements, electives, and field experiences, promotes employment flexibility. M.P.H. graduates, aided by an active career services office, secure a wide array of positions in the health field. Doctoral students usually choose academic careers, though a number are employed in research settings.
