Mission
Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses between the ages of 2½ and 18.
History
The joy began in 1987, when our organization fulfilled its first wish: a family trip to York Beach for a girl with Niemann-Pick disease. Since that first inspired wish, we have served over 7,000 children in Massachusetts and over 1,000 children in Rhode Island in collaboration with our generous donors, supporters, staff, and 600+ volunteers.
More than 500 children in Massachusetts and Rhode Island are diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions every year, based on information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our vision is to grant the wish of every medically eligible child.
The Wish Experience
A wish fulfilled is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey, impacting their emotional and physical health and uniting their family. When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope for the future.
The Need for Support
Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds locally from individuals, corporations and foundations, and through fundraising events. On average, it costs $10,000 to grant a wish. We honor the generosity of our donors by exercising the utmost fiscal responsibility:
