The New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit arts organization committed to supporting artists and curators on an international level as well engaging the local community in Brooklyn and the Greater New York area. NARS provides an array of creative support services and professional development opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists through short-term integrated residency programs, affordable long-term studio spaces, progressive exhibition programs, international exchanges, and engaging public programs that foster global understanding and dynamic cross-cultural dialogues. These services operate in conjunction with our community outreach initiatives to promote greater accessibility to contemporary art for the under-served local community in south Brooklyn. Our mission is to present diverse platforms on which to nurture creative inspiration and innovative cross-pollination of ideas.
International Artist Residency Program
The NARS Foundation offers a residency program that supports emerging and mid-career artists as well as artists with established national and/or international reputations for whom a change of environment may offer refreshment and inspiration. The program offers full and partial residential fellowships for a minimum of one month and up to twelve months. The number of awards and the amount may vary depending on sponsorship available at the time of application. The artists-in-residence are offered a workspace that range in size from 200sq. ft. to 400sq. ft. with Wi-Fi connections and 24/7 access. The workspaces are located within one of the four NARS Studios, which house over 80 artist studios, located in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn. Other than the core residency artists, the artist-in-residence can also take advantage of the interaction with over 120 New York City working artists in these studios.

Community Outreach
