Midtown Community Court

  • Sobre Nós

Founded as a public-private partnership in 1993, the Midtown Community Court handles misdemeanor arrests made in the Times Square, Chelsea and Clinton neighborhoods of New York City. Its mission is to respond constructively to "quality of life" crimes such as prostitution, illegal vending and farebeating and work to prevent further crime before it occurs. It accomplishes this goal by sentencing offenders to a set of graduated sanctions, including community restitution, social services, long-term drug treatment and jail. The Court also offers social services (including ESL classes, job training and primary medical care) onsite on a voluntary basis.
