The Peoples' Voice Cafe is a New York State 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation funded in part by ticket sales, individual donations, and grants from The Puffin Foundation, The Folk Music Society of New York, Judson Memorial Church and the Community Church of New York Unitarian Universalist.

Performances take place at 239 Thompson Street, New York, NY 10012 (in Greenwich Village).

The Peoples' Voice Cafe is an alternative coffeehouse offering live entertainment in New York City, presenting folk, blues, jazz, rap, poetry, storytelling, theater & dance. PVC has its roots in a time-honored tradition combining culture with political activity. Our Cafe was founded in 1979 by members of the People's Music Network for Songs of Freedom and Struggle. PVC is dedicated to creating, supporting, promoting and performing progressive music and culture. The Cafe is a not-for-profit collective that is not affiliated with any political or religious organization.

PVC is the place for people who want to spend Saturday evening with friendly people who don't like budget cuts, wars, poverty, racism, sexism or homophobia, but who do want a future in which people live in peace and justice on a healthy planet. PVC performers represent many different cultures and political approaches. They express their concerns and hopes about a wide variety of humanitarian issues. Much of the music heard at the Cafe was inspired by the experiences of people fighting for survival and a better life. Performers also sing about love and the lighter side of life -- typically encouraging audience participation.
