Finger Lakes Independence Center

The Finger Lakes Independence Center (FLIC) assists people with any disabilities to promote independence and make informed decisions in pursuit of their goals. FLIC works to empower people with disabilities and eliminate attitudinal and architectural barriers to create an inclusive society. Among the services FLIC provides are information and referral, peer counseling, benefits advisement, advocacy, information on the Americans with Disabilities Act, community education and outreach, support groups, a modular ramp loan program, a loan closet of equipment and assistive devices, and Hone Aide programs and advocacy on issues of equity for people with disabilities,

We believe that a society which is inclusive of people with disabilities is beneficial to everyone. Furthermore, we believe that individual and group attitudes toward people with disabilities often create closed social structures and architectural barriers which are detrimental to all members of society. The mission of the Finger Lakes Independence Center is to work toward the elimination of these obstacles through empowering people with disabilities, and thereby helping to create an inclusive society.
