Neighborhood Service Organization

Neighborhood Service Organization is a diverse human service agency that compassionately reaches out to people, empowering them to improve their lives. Our major programs include services to developmentally disabled children, adults and their families; mental health services to older adults; drug - free substance abuse prevention treatment services to individuals and families; crisis and support services for the homeless adult population in the City of Detroit; emergency telephone assistance and suicide prevention counseling for individuals experiencing mental health issues, depression, substance abuse or interpersonal problems 24 hours a day, 7 days per week; therapeutic services to compulsive gamblers and their families 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; home-based preschool program that helps low-income parents prepare their children for kindergarden; supportive services to grandparents who unexpectedly assume the responsibility of raising a grandchild or several grandchildren; and youth initiatives project which provides youth leadership and advocacy training focused on violence prevention and substance abuse prevention.
