  • Sobre Nós

SAAFON’s mission is to further the liberation and empowerment of Black communities through farming, food, and land strategies. SAAFON works to dismantle systems of exclusion, privilege, oppression, and exploitation by advancing the ecologically sustainable practices of Black farmers; advocating for Black sustainable farm ethics and values in the food system; and promoting the links among Black farming, Black culture and Black history. SAAFON was the first network dedicated to supporting Black farmers specifically interested in farming sustainably, and works with Black farmers to: Build collective power through mutual aid, cultural exchange and “crafting kinship”; Serve their needs for direct support for infrastructure and other capital development; and to Collect, exchange, preserve, and disseminate their ancestral and contemporary knowledge, practices, history, and culture.
