The Slater Museum of Natural History is located on the University of Puget Sound campus in beautiful Tacoma, Washington. The museum, one of the largest in the Northwest, houses nearly 90,000 natural history specimens used in education and research. The Slater Museum of Natural History’s mission is to provide a resource for STEM, environmental and natural history education, research, and inspiration for everyone. The Museum has developed specimen-based curricula that introduce elementary students to local birds, mammals, plants and invertebrates, sharpen their observational skills and develop their scientific abilities consistent with Next Generation Science Standards. The museum provides tours to visiting classes and other groups, as well as hosts monthly Nights at the Museum. The museum also serves the international research community.
