Network of Grassroot Organizations -NEGO Uganda

Network of Grassroot organizations (NEGO Uganda) is a registered Non Governmental Organization founded in 2020 in Uganda by a group of Social Workers in response to the plight and challenges faced by Communities.

NEGO implements community Development projects such as the Orphans and Vulnerable children support, Agriculture and Food security, Environmental Management, Community Health, Water, sanitation and Hygiene and CBOs capacity building and strengthening projects. NEGO also provides a platform to empower of grassroots initiatives operating in the most under-served and marginalized areas in Uganda through building strategic partnerships and collaboration between various actors with the aim of improving the quality of lives of people,

Our Philosophy

Founded on the philosophy of active citizenship, shared responsibility and grassroots empowerment, NEGO Uganda  work to mobilize, empower communities and Advocate for Grassroots and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to enable them be more effective in achieving their goals and objectives. We also directly implement Community Development and Humanitarian Programmes that reflect the needs and in best interest of the local population.

Our Motivation

We are motivated by the tremendous contributions Community- Based organizations (CBOs) make to improve the quality of life of people in their respective communities. As a Network we committed and passionate to promoting the growth and development of Grassroot Organizations in Uganda to enable them effectively provide the much needed services to their respective communities.

NEGO is proud to be a member of World Association of Non Governmental Organizations (WANGO), Global Network of Civil society Organizations for Disaster Reduction (GNRDR) and Uganda Uganda National NGO Forum UNGF)

To empower communities socially, physically and economically so as to bring about community development and create sustainable, inclusive and resilient local communities

OUR OBJECTIVES

• To mobilize and coordinate community organizations to ensure sustainable development
• To build and strengthen the capacity of community organizations to enhance, organizational effectiveness, visibility and increase their impact at the grass root level
• To improve the well-being the marginalized and under-served population in Uganda
• To contribute to the eradication of the root causes of poverty in Uganda with focus on Health, education, agriculture, food security, human rights and environmental management
• To assist in emergency situations through helping and coordinating humanitarian assistance
• Provide basic services, such as primary education, health, water and sanitation, and providing shelter, psycho-social and support services to disadvantaged groups

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND CORE VALUES

Accountability: We believe that it is imperative to give a transparent account of who we are, our operational and management procedures, and to document our actions and their results.

Professionalism: To us, a professional approach is a fundamental prerequisite for effective humanitarian and development action. We pledge to invest in the training of all our staff because we see it as an ethical commitment to the government, communities and Development partners. 

Partnership: The challenges of poverty and injustice cannot be tackled alone, but only through joint efforts, which is why we are committed to creating and strengthening relationships everywhere

Ownership: Local bodies representing the community as well as institutional, associative, academic, and entrepreneurial sectors are central to the development processes of each country. All our interventions are in line with the demands and needs expressed by local bodies within their aspirations and strategies.

Innovation: To us, this is a binding choice that we make when formulating projects, analyzing existing good practices and identifying possible technical and social innovations according to their effectiveness and sustainability.

Transparency: To us, the way in which an organization works, manages financial resources and, above all, values its human resources cannot be separated from its values.
