McGroarty Arts Center

McGroarty Arts Center, located in Tujunga, California, is an independent nonprofit organization that provides access to the arts through in-depth arts instruction and experiences. Affordable or free multidisciplinary arts instruction is offered to children, adults, and seniors, as are performances, exhibitions, and events that engage the greater public. The Center is a venue for artists to present their work, while preserving the legacy of John Steven McGroarty and his historic home. McGroarty Arts Center was founded in 1953 as a City-run initiative. The Center and its programming have been operated by a private nonprofit since 1995. The City of Los Angeles maintains ownership of the McGroarty Arts Center facility. McGroarty Arts Center has nearly 7,000 annual participants, and enjoys wide-ranging community support.

McGroarty Arts Center is an emerging leader in the national creative aging field as a program innovator and model.

The organization's revenue is comprised of foundation grants; local government grants; earned revenue through tuition; and a small but growing individual gifts. McGroarty Arts Center has a strong board of experienced and committed community leaders that foster and support a culture that is mission-focused, collegial, and results-oriented, with a strong emphasis on the value of teamwork.
