EV Loves NYC

EVLovesNYC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has provided over 500,000 hot meals and 8,000,000 pounds of groceries to food insecure New Yorkers since April 2020. Powered by small, private donations and a dedicated volunteer corps, our efficient kitchen can prepare a nutritious meal for around $3. We stand for food equality, community building and kindness. 

• We partner with 60+ organizations who distribute our meals to their communities throughout the city, especially in outer borough neighborhoods where food insecurity is strong and food services are thin.
• We represent the different cultures and ethnicities coexisting in NYC through our menus, providing beef, chicken and vegan options each week, including allergen-free and halal foods.
• We assemble and distribute care packages (with personal items like razors, deodorant, lotion, shampoo, body wipes, lip balm, feminine products, reusable water bottles, N94 masks, etc.) 
• We offer ongoing support to asylum seekers and their families, supplying not just food but job-training, advocacy, case management, resettlement services, and references to other agencies and organizations where necessary 
• We encourage asylum seekers to volunteer in all areas of our operations so that they may get additional food service training and to help them avoid eviction from the city shelter system. This real-life U.S. work experience will also be of service to them in obtaining a work permit and for future job references. 
• We regularly host schools and corporate volunteers in special weekday hands-on events in which we share our mission and core values as we help them prepare, assemble and distribute food and care packages to the people we serve.
