The Central Virginia Organizer will develop and execute field strategy and tactics for priority campaigns, including No New Fossil Fuels, our efforts to stop the development and expansion of pipelines and other fossil fuel infrastructure like the Chesterfield gas plant.

The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is the only group in the Chesapeake region of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. dedicated exclusively to building a powerful grassroots movement to fight climate change. We envision an equitable and efficient energy future beyond fossil fuels, where truly clean power sources — solar, wind, and geothermal — sustain every aspect of our lives. We are working on bold campaigns that would result in energy policies matching the scale of the climate crisis and redefining what’s “politically possible” in Virginia. The Details
The Central Virginia Organizer is a full-time, salaried, overtime-exempt position and reports to the Virginia Field Manager. This hybrid position will work two days per week from our office in downtown Richmond and three days in the field, building our supporter base and developing volunteer leaders in Central Virginia. Organizers can expect to work evenings and weekends for volunteer meetings, trainings, and community events. CCAN provides flextime during the week and reimburses personal vehicle miles traveled at $0.67 per mile.
Salary is commensurate with experience and ranges from $51,500-56,650. Salaries are determined by years of related experience and demonstrated skills. We provide a generous benefits package, including four weeks of paid vacation, health, dental, and vision insurance, employer-paid life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% employer match after one year of service.
