    As a federal grant writer specializing in environmental justice, you will be critical in securing funding for projects promoting social and ecological equity. Your expertise in grant writing will be essential to achieving a $500,000 fundraising goal and advocating for communities disproportionately affected by air quality, climate change, and other environmental issues.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough research on available federal grants related to environmental justice initiatives
    • Collaborate with project managers and community leaders to understand the specific needs of the targeted community
    • Develop proposals that align with the goals and objectives of both the funding agency and the community being served
    • Write clear, concise, and compelling narratives that effectively convey the urgency and importance of the proposed project
    • Manage and organize all aspects of the grant writing process, including budgets, timelines, and submission requirements
    • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to gather necessary data and information for the proposal
    • Edit and revise proposals as needed based on feedback from reviewers or funding agencies
    • Stay up-to-date on current environmental justice issues, policies, and regulations to inform grant-writing strategies
    • Manage and write reports for active opportunities.

    Qualifications:

    To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. environmental studies, public policy)
    • 3+ years of experience in federal grant writing; for ecological justice projects preferred
    • Proven history of securing multiple $300,000 or plus grants
    • Strong understanding of environmental justice principles and how they intersect with social and economic disparities
    • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to different audiences
    • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Proficient in grant writing software and Microsoft Office suite

    Additional Qualifications:

    In addition to the above qualifications, the following skills and experience would be beneficial for this role:

    • Experience working directly with communities impacted by environmental injustices
    • Familiarity with federal grant databases and resources (e.g. Grants.gov)
    • Knowledge of budgeting principles and experience developing project budgets
    • Fluency in a second language commonly spoken within the community being served.
