    About the Role

    The Senior Manager plays a key role in Ceres’ work by supporting justice related efforts and advising program teams on issues related to the Just Transition (JT) of our economy to one that is more sustainable. In this role, the Senior Manager, with oversight from the Chief People and Diversity Officer, will lead the JT team’s efforts on JT strategic program alignment, content development, and ensuring collaboration and integration of Just Transition best practices across all Ceres program teams.

    Ceres is looking for an experienced candidate with excellent strategic planning, communication and writing skills, strong project and relationship management skills, as well as experience and knowledge in the intersection of climate and justice.

    The majority of this full-time position will be performed remotely; however, the offeree must be in the Greater Boston area within a commutable distance from the Boston office. Candidates must be willing to work on-site at the Boston office several times throughout the year and flexible to work with employees in all US time zones.

    Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Partner closely with the Program teams and Organizational Strategy Planning and Results (OSPR) team to ensure JT programmatic goals are aligned with Ceres’ overarching goals and are measurable.
    • Partner with Program teams to develop and support execution of short and long-term strategies to increase awareness.
    • Ensure strong internal communications and record-keeping, lead project management efforts, and facilitate communications and check-ins within the JT team and across other teams.
    • Meet regularly with all members of Ceres’ Just Transition efforts to provide guidance, support, ensure alignment, and maintain inventory of all JT initiatives.
    • In partnership with other Ceres teams, review documents and reports developed with a JT lens incorporating the needs of low-income, marginalized, and tribal communities.
    • As a subject matter expert, may lead and manage the development of reports, briefs, blogs, and other content related to or including JT ensuring messaging and images are inclusive and consistent.
    • Work closely with Learning and Employee Engagement to develop and deliver justice related training for Ceres staff.
    • Achieve visibility for Ceres’ JT-focused work by helping to organize and manage external panels and help to identify speakers. Support JT panelists, speakers, and contributors for programmatic events and work closely with the programs and Ceres Events teams to facilitate events of different scale and subject matter, from webinars to conferences.
    • Work with the Development team to integrate JT into grant proposals and provide input/guidance on deliverables for JT initiatives in collaboration with program teams.
    • Stay abreast of contemporary issues, research, and practices in the Just Transition space, and, with approval from the Chief People and Diversity Officer, propose and implement adjustments to Just Transition approach and guidance as needed.
    • Other tasks or projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience working in Environmental Social and Governance (ESG), environmental justice, or Just Transition-related issues, required.
    • Experience developing, implementing, and assessing strategic plans related to just transition, environmental justice, or ESG at an organization-wide level required.
    • Knowledge of or experience working on finance, energy, water, and/or sustainability or environmental issues, a plus.
    • Experience working with communities of color, frontline or low-income communities with an advocacy lens.
    • Familiarity with the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund a plus.
    • Experience serving as large-scale project lead. including proven ability to provide training and support staff development.
    • Relationship management experience with complex partnerships and collaborations.
    • Strong meeting facilitation, communication, and presentation skills, including data analysis, synthesizing research and conceptual work into actionable deliverables.
    • Demonstrated initiative and motivation, and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective presentation style as well as strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
    • Sound judgment and high level of integrity and professionalism, with an ability to manage confidential information and maintain discretion, diplomacy, and courtesy in all contacts.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), other database applications, teleconference and webinar systems and standard e-mail computer applications.
    • Interest and willingness to be trained on specific Ceres’ applications necessary for success: ReadyTalk, Salesforce, Bloomberg, listserv program, and others.
    • Desire to work in a not-for-profit, advocacy-focused organization.
    • Interest in being part of a diverse workforce and willingness to support Ceres’ Commitment to Inclusion and Equity.
    • Willingness to travel as needed.
