    Summary

    Salem Family Resources (SFR)has been serving area families since 1994. Current programs include early learning services, play groups, resource and referral services, and parent education/engagement activities. The agency has an annual budget of $425k and about 10 staff members. The Executive Director oversees all SFR operations, activities, facilities, and staff. In collaboration with the Board of Directors (BOD), the Executive Director establishes goals, objectives, and workplans that further the organization’s mission of supporting families with young children. The Executive Director also collaborates with other community based, regional, and state organizations to achieve the mission of the agency. This position is for at least 30 hours/week, with a competitive salary and benefits.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Development

    • Develops, implements, and oversees programs, projects and initiatives that address the needs of Salem area-families
    • Hires, supervises, and evaluates program staff and volunteers.
    • Facilitates the evaluation of SFR programs and activities.
    • Other program development duties normally expected of an Executive Director

    Community Relations

    • Ensures the organization and its mission, programs, products, and services are consistently presented in a strong and positive image to families, funders, community leaders, and families
    • Envisions and manages organizational development
    • Maintains and expands connections with relevant community and national organizations and pursues opportunities for collaboration.
    • Other community relations duties normally expected of an Executive Director

    Resource Development

    • Oversees planning and implementation of fund development strategies, including researching funding sources, submitting proposals, planning fund raising events and campaigns, and maintaining fundraising records.
    • Ensures compliance with existing contracts and grant awards
    • Other resource development duties normally expected of an Executive Director

    Board Coordination

    • Coordinates operation of the Board in conjunction with the Board President
    • Provide timely program, administrative, and financial updates to the Board
    • In collaboration with the Board develops and implements the Strategic Vision
    • Prepares materials and reports for monthly Board meetings
    • Other Board coordination duties normally expected of an Executive Director

    Administrative and Financial Management

    • Ensures the organization operates in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws/regulations
    • Prepares annual budget in conjunction with the Treasurer and contracted Fiscal Director
    • In conjunction with the Fiscal Director, Treasurer, and CPA develops and implements sound fiscal management policies and procedures.
    • Meets weekly with the contracted Fiscal Director to ensure the agency is managed efficiently and within the approved budget
    • Oversees fiscal management in collaboration with the Treasurer and Fiscal Director
    • Other fiscal management duties normally expected of an Executive Director

    Human Resource Management

    • Effectively manages the human resources systems, policies, and procedures, in accordance with federal and state law.
    • Develops Personnel Policies in conjunction with the Board
    • Manages the implementation of the Personnel Policies, compensation, and benefits
    • Other human resource management duties normally expected of an Executive Director

    Qualifications

    • Substantive experience in the management of a non-profit or educational organization or program
    • Strong knowledge of educational and social service programs that benefit families with young children
    • Effectiveness working with a Board of Directors, Advisory Council, or Coalition
    • Passion for serving, engaging, and empowering families with young children
    • Effectiveness as a community collaboration
    • Experience in resource development
    • Visionary, and innovative leader
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized self-starter
    • Master’s Degree in a social services field preferred
