    The National Network for Youth (NN4Y), a fast-paced, results-oriented national nonprofit organization working to prevent and end youth homelessness, is seeking a talented and driven individual to be our Director of Revenue and Operations, who will ensure the organization is compliant and effective in managing its financial records and operations, fundraising to meet its annual budget and grow, and host a growing annual conference. 

    The Director of Revenue and Operations must be a self-starter and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission and results driven. The ideal candidate will have a holistic understanding of nonprofit finance, administration, communications, large event planning and management, and fundraising operations, including annual and planned giving, corporate sponsorship, foundation grant-making, membership, and fundraising events.

    This is a full-time, salaried position with generous benefits. Employment is considered “at-will” and can be terminated by the employer or employee at any time without cause. The Director of Revenue and Operations reports to the Executive Director, and will have direct supervisory responsibilities for two full time employees. This is a fully remote position and applicants from any location in the United States will be considered.

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    The successful candidate will bring a positive disposition, passion to build relationships, eagerness to take a leadership role, and willingness to grow the National Network for Youth. They will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated track record of raising funds for a mission-driven organization. The Director of Revenue and Operations will bring in new supporters and sustain NN4Y’s current supporters. They will be comfortable in building direct relationships with funders, and supporting the team in achieving shared fundraising and budget goals. A keen attention to detail, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to ethical behavior is required. The ideal candidate will bring expertise of how nonprofits operate, budgeting and tracking spending, as well as experience using a CRM, such as Every Action. Minimum of five years experience in fundraising, including proposal writing for corporate and foundation support.

    FINANCIAL & ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT (20%): 

    • Maintain and monitor the organization’s bank account(s), credit cards, insurance policies, and other similar accounts.
    • Provide oversight of financial administrative procedures, ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are in place and followed in line with organizational policies, including invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes, coding, and reporting.
    • Produce internal financial reports, coding verifications, grant statistics, and custom analysis, as needed, for the Board of Directors, NN4Y team, and external bookkeeper.
    • Provide oversight for the NN4Y team and external bookkeeper so that all activities related to grant data collection and reporting are smoothly implemented.
    • Oversee calendar and execution for annual filings and reporting requirements to ensure nonprofit compliance and improve transparency. 
    • Responsible for managing program budgets and revenue goals including annual events, team retreats, and other programmatic functions. 
    • Oversee and delegate to employees they supervise and consultants they work with to ensure above tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner. 
    • Drive regular budget planning, monitoring, reporting, and forecasting across the organization and develop grant and fee-for-service budgets.
    • Develop and oversee the implementation of a strong multi-year financial plan to support organizational growth. 
    • Advises the Executive Director so they can make short- and long-term financial decisions. 

    DEVELOPMENT (40%):

    • Strategy & Reporting:
      • Research, develop and implement a fund development strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward funding from foundations, corporate/business donors, and individual donors to achieve assigned revenue goals. 
      • Engage board members in giving program(s). 
      • Manage relationship and leverage support from external development consultant to design and achieve development related goals.
      • Develop periodic individual and member solicitation campaigns to support overall strategy.
      • Develop annual fundraising strategy and organization’s case for support. 
      • Prepare reports as needed on NN4Y’s fundraising goals, activities, and accomplishments.
      • Maintain comprehensive and accurate data on prospects, funders, and individual grants made to the organization.
    • Design & Lead Foundation/Corporate Grants Program:
    • Lead implementation of fund development strategy, leveraging internal and external resources to accomplish goals. 
    • Solicit funding from foundations and corporations with an emphasis on multi-year support and foundations with assets greater than $1 billion and/or annual giving of $100 million or more.
    • In collaboration with the Executive Director, steward relationships with existing foundation funders and work to build relationships with prospective foundations and pertinent staff through networking and outreach.
    • Involve and coach leadership and program staff in fundraising efforts.
      • Initiate and lead the creation and writing of grant materials, including budgets, concept notes, abstracts, and applications.
      • Stay abreast of program budgets and support program staff to ensure grant deadlines and requirements are met.
      • Attend and actively participate in internal programmatic meetings to ensure accurate reporting to foundations.
      • Manage the administration of foundation grants, track deadlines, and collect data as necessary - Establish schedules for meeting deadlines and coordinate with appropriate NN4Y employees.
      • Prepare correspondence, progress reports, and other updates to foundation, corporate, individuals, members, and other funders.

    COMMUNICATIONS FUNCTION (20%):

    • Work with the Executive Director and NN4Y team to ensure the implementation of a communications strategy to support fundraising initiatives, including raising the profile of donation opportunities through the website and social media platforms, engaging potential funders through communications, assisting in branding and marketing to potential funders, and helping develop and market fee-for-service products.
    • Improve public reporting and ratings through submitting necessary documentation to reporting websites—Guidestar, etc. 
    • Oversee and manage existing communications, ensuring appropriate messages are conveyed, a consistent and compelling voice is presented, and messages contribute to developing and advancing NN4Y brand and communications goals.
    • Oversee content development for social media, email campaigns, newsletters, blog posts, and more.
    • Oversee website updates and maintenance (using wordpress).
    • Set qualitative and quantitative KPIs to track and monitor the overall effectiveness and results of communications activities.
    • Ensure that external content is proofread and accurately reflects the voice and tone of the organization.
    • Create, format, and edit Annual Reports.
    • Coordinate graphic design and distribution for printed and electronic materials.
    • Prepare quarterly reports on NN4Y’s communication goals, activities, and accomplishments.
    • Oversee and manage Communications Associate to achieve the above mentioned tasks and goals. 

    MEMBERSHIP FUNCTION (20%):

    • Manage Membership Program Growth and Engagement:
      • Create new benefits, foster engagement, and drive membership growth year over year.
    • Oversee the annual membership campaign from creation to implementation. This will include improving marketing, membership services, and increased recruitment and retention of members.
    • Ensure quarterly reports are prepared on NN4Y’s membership goals, activities, and accomplishments.
    • Serve as the team member responsible for ensuring the success (financial success + mission outcomes) for NN4Y’s annual event:
      • Responsible for execution of marketing strategy, which includes planning, budgeting, implementing, and coordinating logistics and execution of sponsorships and ticket sales.
      • Build and nurture a pipeline of organizations that would benefit from increased visibility and engagement at the NN4Y Summit.
      • Prepare reports related to key Summit goals and tasks
      • Manage the event committee, including recruiting a diversity of experience in committee members, designing meeting agendas, and ensuring event planning milestones are achieved.
      • Event coordination, planning, and logistics to ensure a 500+ person hybrid event is successfully executed and achieves financial milestones. 

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    We are seeking a dynamic team player who shows exceptional attention to detail, strong management, fundraising, and finance skills, and a passion for helping an organization grow. As this is a work-from-home position, the Director of Revenue and Operations must have the ability to work independently and diligently, balancing multiple priorities in support of our fun and dedicated team.     Specific required qualifications include:

    • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business, accounting, finance, or public administration.
    • At least eight years of administrative, operations, and/or day-to-day financial management experience.
    • At least five years of administrative, operations, and/or day-to-day financial management experience in a nonprofit organization preferred.
    • Proficient at working in financial, data management, or project management systems (such as QuickBooks, Salesforce, or Every Action) preferred.
    • Demonstrated project management skills and track record of improving organizational systems and processes.
    • Demonstrated capacity to handle a fast-paced workload, serve multiple internal and external partners, and display high standards of excellence and integrity.
    • An understanding of and commitment to NN4Y’s mission, vision, and values.
