    Descrição

The Center for New York City Affairs (CNYCA), housed within the Milano School of Policy, Management, and Environment at The New School, is an applied policy research organization that works where people’s lives intersect with government and community organizations to illuminate the impact of public policy on individuals and communities. Our research features rigorous analysis, practical solutions, and provides real-time feedback for policymakers, providers, and communities.

The Center seeks to hire a Communications & Outreach Coordinator to be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of CNYCA’s external communications, public relations, and community outreach. The coordinator will provide support to all of the Center’s programs, with at least half of the coordinator’s time dedicated to the Center’s Economic and Fiscal Policy unit. The Economic and Fiscal Policy publishes research on local and state economic and budget policies that is designed to improve the lives of New York City’s low- and moderate-income communities. The unit evaluates evidence and presents arguments to support a range of policy interventions – including raising the minimum wage, improving pay standards in low-wage sectors, strengthening social safety net policies like unemployment insurance, and making infrastructure investments in such areas as universal childcare. Our work combines economic analysis with actionable policy responses to address structural issues undergirding racial and economic disparities.

We seek candidates who have a passion for New York City and for communicating about bold, transformative policy ideas and complex issues to diverse audiences – from policymakers and journalists to communities and organizations directly impacted by those policies.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Center for New York City Affairs, with a dotted line to the Director of Fiscal and Economic Policy. This position is funded by and contingent upon external fundraising beyond the first year.

The New School is strongly committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and particularly seeks applications from members of underrepresented groups, as well as candidates who share this commitment.
