    Summary

    The person in this role works in the Audience Development department and reports to the Director, Marketing and Publicity. Responsibilities include: Managing paid, earned media, and shared media marketing activations for the PBS documentary series, Independent Lens and the ITVS brand; executing plans and tactics that connect audiences with independent documentary films; and work cross-functionally with a variety of professionals, including directors, producers, graphic designers, video editors, social media managers, publicists, advertisers, content marketers, data analysts, and audience engagement specialists.

    Specific Duties

      • Manage promotional plans to grow multiplatform viewership of Independent Lens features, shorts, and docuseries.
      • Manage promotional plans to strengthen the organization’s brand positioning among filmmakers and creators, funders, public media partners, and the media.
      • Collect and analyze digital marketing data to generate insights, support recommendations, and strengthen campaign strategy and tactics for the Independent Lens series and ITVS brand. 
      • Develop creative and strategic briefs for the Independent Lens series and ITVS brand.
      • Manage paid, earned, and shared media campaigns across various channels including the PBS app, Connected TV, YouTube Ads, and Roku Ad Manager.
      • Manage relationships with external vendors and stakeholders including communication with agencies, filmmakers, public media partners, and marketing stakeholders through phone, email, and video conference communication.
      • Collaborate cross-functionally with various internal teams across ITVS Creative Services, Distribution, Content Marketing, and Series Producers to manage campaign communication and influence audience development strategies and tactics including facilitating meetings as needed.
      • Develop a thorough understanding of audience demographics, behavior, and preferences, incorporating insights into strategy development for maximum impact.
      • Produce data-driven reports that highlight tactical outcomes and trends and share with the Director, Marketing and Publicity, to inform larger audience development strategies 
      • Co-manage influencer tactics, brand loyalty tactics, and talent activations with Publicity Manager including research, tracking, and coordinating.
      • Execute marketing award strategies including researching eligibility requirements, content recommendations, submission and nomination and win tracking, and managing submissions for various contests including Telly Awards, Promax Awards, and Webby Awards.

      10. Outstanding interpersonal skills, solutions-oriented, able to work effectively and collaborate cross-functionally.
      11. Well-versed in project management tools with the ability to manage, coordinate, track, and deliver promotional assets to internal and external stakeholders. 
      12. Ability to stay focused, highly organized, pay close attention to details, and produce reliable results.
      13. Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
      14. Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise with a desire to learn and grow their marketing knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in an open floor plan, collaborative office space. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

    Position Type, Expected Hours and Place of Work

    This is a full-time and hybrid in-office/telework position that will require eight (8) days or more of regular travel to our San Francisco office on a monthly basis. Core work week days and hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm.

    Required Education and Experience

      • Required: Three to five (3-5) years of relevant marketing experience in media, entertainment, film, television, or related industry.
      • Required: Proven success developing, executing, optimizing, and analyzing paid media strategies across various channels (YouTube, Google Ads, Roku, Meta Ads, etc.).
      • Required: Experience building multi-channel marketing campaigns.
      • Required: Experience with audience targeting in addition to brand positioning and messaging.
      • Required: Skilled in Microsoft Office/Google Suite and Google Drive products.
      • Required: Skilled public speaker and presenter, with experience influencing stakeholders 
      • Preferred: Experience using Asana or a comparable project management tool.
      • Preferred: Familiarity with earned media tactics, influencer marketing, and talent management.
      • Preferred: A passion for entertainment, television, and documentary film.

    Compensation

    ITVS is a financial steward of public funds and committed to pay transparency, as well as providing equitable and competitive compensation for staff. For this role the pay range is $91,233.73 - $81,630.18 and all incumbent new hires base pay will begin at $81,630.18. This is an exempt position that pays an annual salary and includes a robust benefits package. Advancement in the pay range is dependent on advancement in the role.
