The Department of Higher Education deals with matters relating to education at various levels in the State.The main functions of the Department are:1) Advise the Government in matters relating to higher education in the State2) Coordinate and determine standards in institutions of Higher Education or Research and Scientific and Technical Institutions in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission from time to time3) Prepare consolidated programmes in the sphere of Higher Education in the State in accordance with the guidelines that may be issued by the University Grants Commission
