Design for Progress

Design for Progress provides the nonprofit and philanthropic community with bespoke organizational, brand, content, communications, and product strategy, design, and development partnership. We are a woman-owned, brown and Black led business with decades of accumulated expertise in the criminal legal systems, gender, and race spaces, in particular. We maintain a multi-disciplinary core team capable of economically and efficiently collaborating with specialist partner agencies, for example in website development or film production. We pride ourselves on rich and flexible working relationships with our partners, and on our dedication to advancing their strategic priorities above all other considerations. Design for Progress is purpose-built to advance justice, equity, and dignity.

Among other things, we describe ourselves as constructive abolitionists, supporting work that replaces and makes obsolete or untenable the current systems of coercion, enforcement, and incarceration. At times this may mean we support work that is not the most radical, but that in our assessment is the best game in town --- though this admittedly can be some fuzzy math.

We aspire to be vigilantly intersectional in our analysis and approach, and try to keep up with our reading. But we also do prioritize joy and beauty of this work. Two of our go-to words are "game" and "grace."
