Friends of Bukomansimbi Charity Organization

1. Objectives of the organization

i. To promote community-based improvement of welfare and rights of vulnerable groups of people and build their Capacity to address poverty.

ii. To build capacity of communities to address HIV/AIDS, create awareness towards positive behavioral change, support for the affected and infected as well as advocate for their rights.

iii. To promote agricultural production and productivity of rural farmers.

iv. Promote the provision of clean water, sanitation and hygiene in communities.

v. To promote environment mainstreaming towards development programs in communities.

1. Activities of the organization

i. Life skills training to young people in the rural areas of Gayaza Parish.

ii. Sensitization campaigns on HIV/AIDS, child education, Nutrition, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), hygiene and sanitation in communities.

iii. Promotion of rainwater harvesting, storage and means of making water safe for drinking.

iv.

v. Capacity building on salient issues in health, environmental protection and conservation and poverty eradication in the rural areas of Kitanda Sub parish.

vi. Advocacy for measures against Gender-Based Violence and associated cultural practices and rituals in a Human Rights frame work.

1. Expertise of the organization in relation to the project

Since 2018, FBCF has engaged in rain water harvesting, storage and utilization campaign in Kitanda sub-county Bukomansimbi district on a subsistence level due to insufficient funds. FBCF has successfully concluded the campaign safe water in families and is looking at sensitizing schools’ heads, staff and children about the need for safe water in schools. This combined project will greatly attract government attention and the general public. FBCF is also promoting self-supporting water supplies, addressing disaster relief, restoring the rural water cycle by returning rain water to local underground aquifers and improving the level of sanitation in the communities.

With the inception of rainwater harvesting, storage and utilization program, the organization is greatly extending its operations from 1 parish to other 3 parishes
