Position Overview:

The Volunteer Foster Coordinator will play a vital role in our organization's efforts to provide temporary foster care for animals in need. This individual will be responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers who are willing to open their homes to animals awaiting adoption or in need of temporary care. The Volunteer Foster Coordinator will work closely with the foster care team to ensure the welfare and successful placement of animals into loving homes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Volunteer Recruitment: Identify and recruit potential foster volunteers through various channels, including online platforms, community events, and outreach efforts.
• Training and Orientation: Develop and conduct comprehensive orientation and training sessions for foster volunteers, ensuring they understand the organization's policies, procedures, and animal care requirements.
• Placement and Matchmaking: Assess the needs and temperament of animals in need of foster care and match them with suitable foster homes based on compatibility and availability.
• Support and Guidance: Provide ongoing support, guidance, and resources to foster volunteers, including troubleshooting any challenges that arise during the fostering process.
• Communication: Maintain regular communication with foster volunteers to provide updates on available animals, upcoming events, and relevant information.
• Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of foster placements, including animal profiles, volunteer information, and any medical or behavioral concerns.
• Foster Home Visits: Conduct periodic visits to foster homes to ensure the well-being of animals and compliance with organization standards.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with foster program manager to ensure seamless coordination and support for foster animals.

Qualifications:

• Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the organization's mission.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience in volunteer coordination or animal welfare is preferred, but not required.
• Access to transportation for home visits preferred.
