Vision Statement: To nurture and inspire dignity, safety, and hope, in the lives of our unhoused neighbors.
Mission Statement: By improving human dignity, we strive to nurture mental health, physical well-being, and environmental stewardship.
Description of Nurture Hope:
Nurture Hope serves Thurston County residents with dignity through two unique active programs, Build A Bus Home (BABH), and Shower Power Plus (SPP). Both programs serve our unhoused Thurston County neighbors.
Nurture Hope’s programs provide affordable housing options through BABH, while SPP serves unhoused guests who do not have regular access to running water with mobile showers. Our dedicated team of
volunteers offer a piece of normalcy and a small step toward the goal of independent and self-sufficient living.
Together, we strive to meet the most basic human needs with radical hospitality!
BABH Program Goal:
Enhance the quality of life of our unhoused Thurston County neighbors by increasing new and
affordable housing options, with the goal of learning new life skills, teamwork, and building self-
esteem.
Shower Power Plus Program Goal:
Enhance the quality of life in our unhoused Thurston County neighbors by providing showers, hygiene supplies, and coordinating with community partners to provide other resources in an atmosphere of radical hospitality.

Guest Services Job Details
LOCATION: WELCOME BOOTH (10X20 canopy)
Intake, Registration and Scheduling area:
- Welcome guests with a smile making eye contact.
- Provide guests with a pen and then fill out the intake registration form. Help as needed.
- Check with guests that they are aware of the rules and the time limits in the shower 15 minutes total from entering to exiting
- Using the shower schedule choose a time and record on the registration form, and schedule form
- Advise guests to arrive 15 minutes early to receive directions and to check belongings, if they wish.
Hygiene Supplies Volunteer
Primary duties:
- Welcome guests with a smile making eye contact.
- Verify their appointment
- Check-in and out personal belongs for guests
- Review the shower process
- Offer hygiene supplies , towel and washcloth
- Ask guest to fill out a survey for guests to fill out after they’ve showered
Shower Stall Cleaner / Assistant
Primary duties:
- Welcome guests.
- Have guests remove shoes and put in a shoe box
- Usher guests into the shower trailer
- Monitor the time (15 min total)
- Usher guest out of the shower trailer to the Welcome Tent
- Clean and sanitize the showers (Procedure Document)
Shower Power Plus by Nurture Hope
Recruiting Experienced Drivers, & Setup and Teardown Crew
Are you a handy person, or jack of all trades who would like to help us bring showers to our unhoused neighbors?
We are searching for kindhearted people who want to contribute to creating a positive impact in our community to serve as drivers for our shower trailer serving our unhoused neighbors. These wonderful humans will become an integral member of our growing team.
Shower Power Plus provides showers Wednesdays 12pm-4pm, at the Lee Creighton Justice Center.
We need someone with experience driving large vehicles (trucks, trailers, RVs, buses, ect). Shower Power Plus has a 20’ Box truck that pulls the 27-foot shower trailer to support our ongoing efforts to improve health and hygiene of our unhoused community.
The tasks involved for the trailer set up on site are:
- Driving the box truck towing the shower trailer
- Driving it to a deployment site within 10 miles
- Adding water to the fresh water tank (at United Churches)
- Leveling the trailer on site
- Assist with removal of the items in the trailer and placing them on the deployment site
- Help set up the rest of the deployment site under the supervision of the Site Coordinator.
The driver and other team members oversee the equipment side of the operation for the day. This person would fix issues as they come up (e.g,When a pipe becomes loose, or a fitting needs to be repaired or replaced, or the generator needs attention).
At the end of the day the team will (a) disconnect the utilities including breaking down the grey water hoses, and detaching them from the sewer access point onsite, and detaching the freshwater hose (c) assist in the loading of the equipment for the deployment (b) reconnect the trailer to the tow vehicle and return the trailer to the storage facility.
