Board Member, Immigrant Legal Aid Organization

    Are you:

    • Passionate about helping immigrants receive visas?
    • Eager to share your skills and experience with a new organization?
    • Interested in gratifying Board work?

If so, please consider joining our Board!

New England Justice for Our Neighbors (New England JFON) is a 12-year-old immigration legal services organization serving most of Massachusetts. Our clients include asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, and victims of violence.  We currently provide free legal consults and legal representation to over 300 low-income clients each year.

In the past year, we have completed a strategic planning process and received a major federal subcontract that will allow us to grow significantly in the coming months and years. A key element to our success will be the recruitment of several new Board members, who will have a real opportunity to shape the organization.  At this time, we are particularly seeking Board members with one or more of the following skills/experience:

    Finance/Accounting ✱ Fundraising/Marketing ✱ HR ✱ Non-Profit Management

In addition to monthly Zoom Board meetings, Board members help with one or more projects throughout the year and assist with our annual fundraiser. Time commitment is typically not more than about 5 hrs/month, often less.

We encourage candidates throughout Massachusetts both with and without Board experience to apply.  All candidates are very welcome, including those with lived experiences similar to those of our clients.  We are happy to share a more detailed description and our Board expectations with anyone interested.  To apply, write to NEJFON@newenglandjfon.org and include the word “Board” in your subject line.  We hope to hear from you!
