Campaign Manager

Charlene Wang’s campaign for Oakland City Council At-Large is hiring an experienced, energetic and hardworking campaign manager for the 2024 Cycle. The position will begin on a volunteer part-time basis until moving to a paid full-time basis later in the campaign cycle. Charlene is committed to running an ambitious campaign focused on voter contact to build up strong, diverse, grassroots support.

Role Summary & Responsibilities:

The Campaign Manager will be responsible for running the campaign, executing campaign strategy, implementing the finance plan, coordinating donor stewardship and outreach, managing research projects, planning events and coordinating with event hosts, managing donor call time, and assisting with planning and executing on the field plan.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing the day-­to-­day schedule and activities for the candidate, and managing a campaign team to exceed goals and deliverables
• Developing and overseeing on a comprehensive campaign plan outlining the path to victory including field program, fundraising, budget, communications, endorsement plan, and GOTV
• Develop an effective and reflective social media/content creation strategy
• Manage call time, fundraisers, pledge tracking, and follow up 
• Launching voter contact events, preparing voter contact materials, and managing data
• Creating a robust field program for the candidate, staff and volunteers including coordinating house parties, canvass launches, and meet and greets
• Manage all aspects of budgeting and compliance with assistance from the Assistant Treasurer
• Maintaining relationships and communication with local stakeholders  
• Recruiting and training volunteers and fellows

Requirements

• Political campaign and/or labor organizing experience required, including managing volunteers
• Fundraising experience preferred, including running candidate call time
• Qualified candidates must be highly organized, highly motivated and capable of working through a demanding work environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• The ability to build and motivate a team
• Access to a cell phone and laptop is required. Access to a vehicle is preferred
• Comfort with Google Docs/Sheets.  Knowledge of campaign tools and strategies such as PDI, VAN, peer-to-peer texting, Mailchimp, Canva
