    • An advocate with and for people who have intellectual disabilities;
    • A member of a worldwide federation of autonomous communities.

    L'Arche Greater Washington, DC, is a multi-generational and ethnically diverse community which provides care and direct social services to people with intellectual disabilities through mutual relationships.

    In four homes in DC and Arlington, VA, people with and without developmental disabilities share daily life, chores, laughter, and prayer while creating deep friendships in an interdenominational faith community.

    While creating loving, life-long homes for people with intellectual disabilities is the heart of L'Arche's mission, advocating for human rights and quality of services with governmental and private agencies is an extremely important aspect of our work.
