PCDI is a non-profit initiative launched in May 2010 through a strategic public-private collaboration including industry, higher education, the City of Portland and the Portland Development Commission. PCDI was initiated with the primary objective of establishing a materials resource library, a cross-disciplinary resource for industry, scientists, engineers, researchers and designers, offering the opportunity to collaborate. The vision for PCDI is to serve Portland and west coast designers, engineers, architects, students and others while further Portland’s position as a global design center. Portland is already recognized as the worldwide hub for performance footwear and apparel and a leader in environmentally responsible building design and practices.
