    The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) is a non-governmental organization infused with the energy of involved members — individuals and organizations — who are actively engaged in ecologically sensitive repair and management of ecosystems.

    SER advances the science, practice and policy of ecological restoration to sustain biodiversity, improve resilience in a changing climate, and re-establish an ecologically healthy relationship between nature and culture.

    Overview:

    Since its incorporation in 1988, SER has given voice to the field of ecological restoration and has become known as the leader in this emerging discipline. With members in over 110 countries, SER is a dynamic global network that fosters the exchange of knowledge and expertise among ecological restoration practitioners and scientists from diverse disciplines.

    SER promotes ecological restoration and best practices by establishing regional chapters, hosting the biennial World Conference on Ecological Restoration, and advising international organizations with policy and legislation. SER also the certifying body of the Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) program. The Society’s collection of publications includes Restoration Ecology, a peer-reviewed journal, The Science and Practice of Ecological Restoration, a book series published in collaboration with Island Press, as well as numerous reports and publications.

    The Society for Ecological Restoration is a registered not-for-profit organization under Section 501(c)3 of the US Internal Revenue Code.
