YWCA Greater Los Angeles

Founded in 1894, the YWCA Greater Los Angeles (YWCA GLA) is a women's membership movement built on the mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. We touch over 100,000 individuals annually through various programs that include affordable child-care, after-school youth programs, economic empowerment, job training and housing, and sexual assault crisis services. Additionally, we address racial justice and public policy, which are intertwined through all aspects of programs and service areas.

We care for our communities' women and their families by providing relevant programs and activities that address today's needs. The following represents examples of the programs the YWCA GLA offers:

• Job training and transitional housing for at-risk youth
• Youth Services program which includes after school programs, leadership and mentoring
• A safe place for victims of sexual assault to counsel and heal
• Affordable Child care of high quality
• Advocacy through engaging the community to respond to key legislation as it relates to our service population
• Programs/workshops on violence against women
• Empowerment services for women through workshops like self-esteem, financial literacy, etc.

The YWCA has been working hard for over 118 years in Los Angeles, across America, and globally to end suffering for women and girls. We continue working to truly make a difference in our community.
