The Silver Spring Interfaith Housing Coalition (SSIHC) is a non-profit organization of 23 local congregations working together to provide affordable housing for low-income families and individuals, especially those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Our mission is to work closely with each resident over time to address barriers to self-sufficiency and to develop and implement strategies to overcome these barriers.
Our staff and dozens of volunteers renovate and maintain affordable housing for people with very low incomes in Silver Spring and Takoma Park. Volunteer mentors serve as extended family members to help our residents recover the self-esteem and sense of community so often lost in the chaos of poverty and homelessness.
The Silver Spring Interfaith Housing Coalition builds brighter futures for our residents and stronger communties for all of us.
