Experience Camps exists to build a community for grieving children through the transformative experience of summer camp. Experience Camps are free, one-week overnight camps for boys and girls, ages 9-16, who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. Our camps provide a safe place where kids can laugh, cry, play, and remember the person who died. It's a place where they can feel "normal", because everyone there has been through something similar and understands what it's like to lose someone.
Under the guidance of licensed clinicians, campers have the opportunity to remember the person who died, while developing tools to guide their grief through adolescence and adulthood. Children form lasting, loving bonds supported by carefully trained adults in a connected community, sending an important message that they are not alone. We currently operate camps in 5 locations: Maine, Southern California, Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania, serving over 800 boys and girls from nearly 30 states.
