Status: Home (Formerly Jerusalem House) is Atlanta's oldest and largest permanent supportive housing provider for homeless and low-income individuals and families affected by HIV/ AIDS. Status: Home was founded in 1988 by a coalition of Atlanta's leaders who envisioned a residential facility that would foster independence and dignity for the growing number of people losing their homes due to AIDS. The original facility opened in 1989 as a single house for five people dying from AIDS.
Mission
Status: Home provides homeless and low-income individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Greater Atlanta with a continuum of housing options, supportive services, and educational opportunities that contribute to a resident's overall self-sufficiency.
Goals
Studies have shown that almost 70% of people living with HIV/ AIDS face homeless at some point during their lifetimes. Our programs pursue a common goal: that by living in a safe and stable housing environment, residents can focus on their physical, economic, mental, and emotional needs.
