Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai established an academic Department of Emergency Medicine in 1994. Over the past eighteen years, the ISMMS Department of Emergency Medicine has emerged as a thriving academic force in the medical school, the hospital, and the larger community. Thirty-five full-time faculty members are actively engaged at the local, state, national and international levels as clinical, educational, administrative and research experts in emergency medicine. They are prepared by talent, training and experience to deliver the highest quality of care to patients, to provide superb teaching to students and residents, to conduct world-class clinical, translational and health services research, and to contribute dedicated community service.
