The Mount Vernon Day Care Center, Inc. is a historic not-for-profit childcare organization established in 1891. We offer a balanced approach to learning for pre-school and school-aged children. The Center is proud of its significant and celebrated service to youth, families and the greater Mount Vernon community. Our expertly designed programs meet children's intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs while having fun. The staff understands the developmental requirements of the child, and we encourage the participation and involvement of the parents and family in the Center's programs. EXCITING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!

Build date: MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2011 Location: 151 South Second Avenue, Mt. Vernon, NY 10550

Join us as we team up to build a playground for the children at the Mount Vernon Day Care Center, Inc., 151 South Second Avenue, Mount Vernon, NY 10550. We are seeking 100 enthusiastic volunteers who do not have to be skilled, trained or have any special tools; they just have to enthusiastic, energetic, a team, willing to work, and have fun, fun, fun! (And be at least 18 years of age).

Join us as an individual or come with an entire team. We are looking for 100 volunteers for this project, and everyone must be pre-registered. Arrive at 8:00 A.M. for breakfast and stay until project completion time at 4:00 P.M.. We’ll provide lunch, beverages, music and prizes, along with an opening and special closing ceremony. The build will happen Rain or Shine. Build captains and site preparers are also needed!

Skilled builders are invited to become Build Captains and take on a leadership role on Monday, October 3, 2011. Captains are asked to attend a 45-minute orientation on Prep Day, Saturday, October 1, 2011.
