Writopia Lab is a non-profit organization that holds creative writing workshops for writers ages 8 to 18. Each workshop enrolls a maximum of six students and is led by a published author trained in our integrated, student-centered approach to teaching writing. We create a safe, comfortable space for both developing and accomplished writers, and we aim to provide the creative inspiration, individual attention, and intellectual environment that may not be available to them at school. We offer discounted or waived fees to nearly 50% of workshop participants in order to run a socioeconomically diverse program in which writers from varied backgrounds can learn from one another. In New York, we are an Outreach Partner for The Scholastic Writing Awards--the country's largest, longest-running, and most prestigious recognition program for teen writers--and in Greater Washington we serve as the program’s Regional Affiliate.
