The Women's Project at Wildcat Service Corporation/Fedcap Group

  • Acerca de

Wildcat Service Corporation was founded in July 1972 by visionary social entrepreneur, Herb Sturz. Its mission is to create opportunities for individuals with barriers to achieve economic well-being. Wildcat was the first organization in the United States to design and implement a transitional work program for unemployed persons with criminal convictions. Transitional employment helps individuals with barriers to employment acquire the habits, demeanor, and experience necessary to work in the private or public sectors. Each year Wildcat helps thousands of individuals transition successfully from incarceration to their community so they can find jobs, build careers, and receive the training and guidance necessary for economic well-being.

The Women's Project (TWP) at Wildcat is a community of women aimed at securing the release of women held in New York City's jails. Our community serves as an alternative to unaffordable bail and incarceration (ATD/ATI) in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. In our collective space, women work, heal, and grow together.

TWP provides comprehensive care coordination, individual support, advocacy, group wellness and educational workshops, restorative circles, and connections to transitional/permanent employment, housing, healthcare, and educational opportunities. We strive to support every participant in building a plan toward achieving holistic wellness, economic stability, and strong community supports. TWP does not provide individual or group therapy.
