The Far Rockaway/Arverne Nonprofit Coalition is a project of the Fund for the City of New York (FCNY). FCNY was established by the Ford Foundation
in 1968 with the mandate to improve the quality of life for all New
Yorkers. For over three decades, in
partnership with government agencies, nonprofit institutions and foundations,
FCNY has developed and helped to implement innovations in policy, programs,
practices and technology in order to advance the functioning of government and
nonprofit organizations in New York City and beyond.
The Far Rockaway/Arverne
Nonprofit Coalition, a project of the Fund for the City of New York, is a unified collective that works
to improve the community for and with youth by strengthening Rockaway's
nonprofit network. We seek to ensure that the needs of youth service providers
and, ultimately, youth on the Peninsula are met.
The Coalition
is comprised of nonprofits, community-based organizations, and community leaders
committed to the development of youth in the Rockaways, primarily the
Far Rockaway and Arverne neighborhoods.
The Coalition achieves its
mission through four program areas:
·
Resource-sharing
and partnering in service delivery
·
Partnering
with youth to host the annual Youth Summit
·
Advocacy
for local issues impacting youth and/or youth service providers
·
Capacity-building
and community leadership development
