The Beautiful Project is an arts-based organization that uses storytelling and visual arts to advance the healing and representational justice of Black girls, gender expansive youth, and women. We collectively create photographic, film, visual, and narrative projects in response to our needs for recognition, our desire to heal, and our dreams for ourselves and our people. We train youth in using arts as a tool for activism and share created work in online campaigns, museum exhibitions, and other productions. We engage mutual care as a strategy for our full recognition and collectively wield pens and lenses to boldly add to the stories too often told about us, without us.
