Border Partners is a nonprofit organization that unites people from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border in their vision that, by sharing resources, ideas, and experience, we can improve life for many people living in poverty along the border. Utilizing our experiences in one community, Palomas, Chihuahua, MX, which has been devastated by drug violence and has very high unemployment, we are creating a model for expanding opportunities and building hope in other towns along the border.
Border Partners helps families grow home gardens, operates an Education Center as part of the town public library, supports an active group of Community Health Educators, promotes the use of low cost sustainable energy technologies (solar cookers, solar hot water heaters, papercrete insulation panels and building blocks and graywater re-use) and contributes used computers to schools.
