The Social and Civic Media Section is a division within the Department of Communications at UNICEF Headquarters in New York. The Social & Civic Media Section uses traditional media combined with new technologies including social networking tools, SMS and digital mapping to empower children and young people to play an active role in society as well as ensuring UNICEF stays relevant for a new generation of supporters. Implementing latest communication tools in projects, the Social and Civic Media Section advocates for education, awareness and capacity building.
