YourTurn is the product of wanting to give back to a community while not necessarily living there. Traditional mentoring programs focus on one-on-one interaction with local professionals. While this is positive, it provides a gap. For students, not everyone knows what they want to do (in fact, few do), and the opportunities they have to help them figure it out are very vague and come from unfamiliar sources: outdated computer software that provide limited information, mentors who are focused on maintaining a local community, etc. For mentors, not everyone has the resources to be a hands-on mentor. YourTurn is the answer to both: It provides students access to resourceful professionals familiar with their background who are able to connect with them using new technology at a rate of their choosing.
