    The UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health Program is a nationally recognized center to promote worker health and safety in Southern California. UCLA-LOSH specializes in participatory worker training in English and Spanish and development of innovative bilingual educational materials and curriculum. LOSH is part of UCLA's Institute of Industrial Relations in the College of Letters and Science and the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health in the School of Public Health.

    With a multi-ethnic, bilingual staff which includes health educators, an industrial hygienist, and Haz Mat specialists, the LOSH Program trains hundreds of workers yearly and provides technical assistance, research and policy information. UCLA-LOSH is the lead agency for the Western Region University Consortium funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), providing Haz Mat and hazardous waste training in California, the Pacific Northwest and Arizona. LOSH is the Southern California partner in a statewide worker health and safety training initiative funded by the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation. The LOSH training model emphasizes development of worker leaders to participate in workplace health and safety programs.
