Catalyst for Change Vietnam (C4C) is a not-for-profit organization. Founded in 2015 by Hong Tang as Coins for Change, our organization has been dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of rural children and disadvantaged women in Vietnam. Driven by Hong Tang’s journey from an impoverished Central Vietnam village to overcoming adversity as a young, self-taught single mom. Hong leveraged her self-determination and English skills to access opportunities and resources.
Over the years, we have evolved and expanded our services, offering educational, vocational, business, and mental health support through two flagship programs: Teach for Change and The Empowerment Plan.
Teach for Change (TFC) program aims to reduce educational disparities between rural and urban youth in Vietnam. For rural children in Vietnam, life is defined by lush landscapes intertwined with harsh realities. Their days are consumed by struggles against inadequate education, limited resources, and constrained opportunities. The absence of quality learning, especially English instruction, confines their potential within the boundaries of rural life. Without exposure to diverse cultures, their worldview stays narrowed, impacting their transition into adulthood. When these youth eventually pursue higher education, the culture shock and lack of essential skills lead to myriad challenges—from academic struggles to mental health issues. The impacts of their upbringing reverberate as they try to navigate a complex world.
Our mission is to empower marginalized communities by building knowledge, skills, confidence and networks. We believe in breaking inequality barriers through human connection and inclusive access to transformative opportunities. We envision a Vietnam where all people, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or geography, have access to education, skills, and resources needed to reach their full potential and uplift their communities.
