Founded by the late Jamal Khashoggi, DAWN is a non-profit research and advocacy organization that works to reform U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. We seek to end support for abusive regimes, protect U.S. democracy from nefarious foreign influence, and elevate the perspectives of marginalized communities, including activists and experts from the region, in our efforts to democratize foreign policy.
Our multi-prong strategy consists of four key pillars: accountability and sanctions against abusive officials and their lobbyists, pushing for enforcement of U.S. laws restricting military support to abusive regimes, providing analysis and recommendations for U.S. policy in the Middle East region, and legislative changes to prohibit conflicts of interest with foreign governments.
Through our publication, Democracy in Exile, we amplify the voices, experiences, analysis, and insights of leading thinkers, activists, writers, and artists in deliberations on U.S. policy.
