Light the Way Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2020 after April Johnson experienced the death of her daughter by suicide. April recognized the need to bring awareness suicide prevention efforts to families and young people experiencing mental health challenges.
Light the Way Scholarship's program provides financial, mental health, and success building strategies to at risk college bound students. Light the Way Scholarship provides student award recipients with a network of support including, no cost mental health services, tutoring, assistance with paying for cellular phone service and food/personal supplies.
