Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a one-of-a-kind rural heritage park that provides recreational and educational opportunities for all.
Vision Statement
We envision a thriving, cohesive community space that honors the Dugas family’s legacy by providing a wide range of accessible amenities, interactive educational programming, and health and wellness options. We will do this while also centering natural conservancy, sustainability, and the land’s agricultural and historical heritage. We aim to offer varied and meaningful experiences that enhance the lives of our community members and visitors. Our hope is that Dugas Community Park will be a treasure for the citizens of the region for generations to come.

Dugas Community Park is a 340-acre regional gem nestled in the small town of Scottsville, Kentucky. As the only rural heritage park of its kind, we are dedicated to offering a unique blend of outdoor recreation, historical preservation, and community celebrations.
Our park features scenic walking and hiking trails, an open-air amphitheater for performances and gatherings, a rentable community pavilion, and a vibrant playground that invites children and families to explore, play, and connect. These amenities are open to the public year-round and serve as a beloved resource for residents and visitors alike.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand with even more attractions, facilities, and special events designed to engage community members of all ages, abilities, and interests. Planned additions include a six-acre dog field, a seasonal farmers market, a equestrian meadow with horseback riding trails, mountain biking trails, additional foot trails, and a nature center—each one thoughtfully designed to reflect our commitment to natural conservancy, inclusive recreation, and cultural heritage.
As a nonprofit organization, Dugas Community Park is guided by five value-based pillars: Community & Outreach, Education & Learning, History & Preservation, Rural Heritage & Conservation, and Recreation & Fun.
These values are woven into everything we do—from hosting annual festivals and school field trips to supporting local artists and preserving the legacy of the region’s Civil War history through interpretive signage and historical storytelling.
We proudly serve South Central Kentucky, with a special focus on the families, schools, and community organizations that make this region so special. Our park is a place where people gather to celebrate milestones, honor history, learn from nature, and build lasting memories together.
Supported by a legacy endowment, a dedicated Board of Directors, a small but passionate staff, and generous donors and volunteers, Dugas Community Park is more than just green space—it’s a living, growing reflection of the community it serves.
