Algonquin Arts Theatre (AAT) is a 501 c (3) non-profit center for performing arts, providing cultural enrichment and arts education for residents and visitors of Central New Jersey and the Jersey Shore through high quality performances and programs in theatre, music, dance and film.

Located in Manasquan, NJ, AAT is an integral part of the Shore region, offering broad access to arts experiences across multiple disciplines. A journeyman house, AAT features the work of young and emerging artists, designers and directors working beside seasoned professionals. AAT provides a platform for local and regional performers to showcase their work.

The Algonquin Theatre began its life as a first-run movie house in 1938. The theatre enjoyed a long period of success from 1938 through the mid-Seventies, when age, disrepair and competition drove the Algonquin to close the doors entirely. In 1992, two local couples co-founded Algonquin Arts: A New Jersey Non Profit Corporation and embarked upon a multi-million-dollar renovation of the abandoned movie house.

In 1994, programming premiered at the venue. By 2002, the vision of AAT as a vibrant cultural center for the community was being realized. Current annual programming includes 8 main stage productions of plays and musicals, an orchestral music series, a wide variety of jazz and pop concerts, a Family Series, student matinee presentations, films and a full complement of classes and workshops in theatre, music and dance.

Since 1994, more than one-million patrons have attended events at the venue. Outreach initiatives that travel to adult care facilities have enriched the lives of thousands of senior citizens. The expansive education department has allowed AAT to focus on underserved audiences including those with physical, experiential, geographic and socio-economic barriers to participation. AAT fosters appreciation of the arts through high-quality performances and promotes lifelong learning for students of all ages.
