The Dignity Center is an outreach ministry of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist church that serves people who are homeless and/or living in poverty by helping them in a process to become self sufficient. Each client that comes to the Dignity Center is interviewed by an advocate who assesses the client's needs, then helps him/her make a plan with referrals for getting his/her needs met. Often times the needs involve finding employment, housing, medical care and other basic needs. We offer support to clients in the process of becoming self-sufficient by meeting with them periodically as they work through their plan and by providing supportive resources through this process (i.e., bus tokens for transportation to a job interview in their job searching process).
