The URI Fab Lab is a transformative program designed to empower young people through its state-of-the art digital fabrication laboratory featuring STEAM-centered learning tools. It is a free out-of-school time program which runs year-round with programing during school vacation breaks, afterschool, and weekends. By providing a creative space for self-expression, the program encourages curiosity and a growth mindset, nurturing youth to build confidence and meaningful connections. The lab is part of the Urban Resource Institute's Economic Empowerment Program with a larger mission is to empower individuals, families, and communities, particularly communities of color and other disenfranchised populations, to end cycles of violence, homelessness, poverty, and trauma by increasing safety and resiliency.
